Street Style Kimono Sighting

by Mikka Padua July 12, 2013

Our penchant for kimonos seemed to have reached new fashion heights as in the recently concluded Paris couture shows, the style set paraded in kimonos donned in ways they can truly call their own.

A knee length skirt, a camisole, and a kimono all in the same texture come together in a soft color palette. She punctuates her look with a structured clutch and toughens it up with a leather cuff. An epitome of effortlessness and ease with just the right amount of kick.

This lady's knack for putting unexpected pieces together and make it look well-thought of is a true feast to our senses. A robe-like kimono teamed with a low neckline may be nothing new, but a turban under a printed cowboy hat? Very, very few can pull that off.

Now, this one took me aback in a good kind of way. A heavily embroidered kimono you'd think is only fit for a lavish boudoir, is dressed down with ripped jeans and an oversized leather clutch. Getting me a little dizzy in awe, but boy, this woman sure knows her thing!

Though these looks may be a little to the extreme side of kimono wearing, it's fun to take cues from these street style mavens and go a tad bold the next time you throw over that wide-sleeved closet staple.

Have you sought lately? Heaps of gorgeous kimonos have just been dropped. Be sure to pop up!
