Not Your Usual Date Looks

by Anne Bella January 29, 2018

It's no secret that V-Day is a big deal in our 'hood. Hearts can't help but flutter as hopeless romantics plan the perfect evening full of sweet nothings: wine, roses and dessert just to name a few. While we at STU aren't the cookie-cutter type, we love a good date---V-Day or not---and came up with these looks you can wear on any kind of rendezvous, day to night, outdoors or in, five star or fast food. Let your personality be the gauge for a fun, giddy time and the first thing you want checked off the list is a great outfit. After all, there are more important things to think about...like what to get your significant other. Am I right??

For an afternoon of art appreciation

Gabela African dutch wax print top + Chibanda African dutch wax print pants

For the fashion risk-taker, this print on print combo is a no-brainer. No such thing as too bright, too flashy or too printed. Before you throw whatever you see first on the hanger, consider complementing colors like this canary and indigo pairing with the same black details. We kept the accessories neutral and complemented the outfit with contrasting magenta flat sandals for that added punch. Now you're ready to hit Pinto Art Museum, fresh and fuss free.

Office to cocktails

Yonda mock wrap dress + Bella staw fringe tote

We can't not include the proverbial date night dress so here's our take: a versatile and very forgiving LBD in airy, cool cotton with an asymmetrical hem for an added twist. Perfect for day or night or day to night, as it's also office appropriate. A quick change of accessories is all you need and you're good to go!

For brunch at The Peninsula (or any hotel of your choice)

Dia de Muertos linen embroidered dress + Cara fringe straw bag + Salsa sandals

We love our boozy brunch dates and this is just THE dress to wear. It's a fun, wear and go frock that's peppered with Mexican-inspired embroidery that says you're ready for a fiesta, anytime, anywhere!

A night at the theater then drinks at Poblacion

Leeton tie-back top

For the alterna-chick who'd rather toast to craft beers after seeing a local production, an equally artsy outfit beckons. Dress up your wide-leg jeans with an eccentric top to keep things interesting. Am sure your date would appreciate the refreshing look just as much as that bottle of Joe's Brew.

Lunch with the parents / in-laws

Walhalla polka wrap dress + Maman pandan clutch

If you're double dating with the folks, a modest albeit stylish ruffled wrap dress with do the trick. Add printed platforms for a different twist and punch it up with a crimson clutch, matching lips and you're made!

A day by the beach

Kempsey embroidered blouson + Boali wide leg pants + Envero abaca bag

Hanging out by the ocean is always a great idea, especially during cooler-than- summer February. Take a day trip to the nearest resort in this Hamptons-themed look in breezy blues and take in the fresh sea air while you sip a piñacolada as the sun sets (while holding hands, of course).

Concert at the park + cocktails

Dress + Zoriba woven bag

Escolta and Old Manila are bustling with events starting February and quite a unique way to spend an evening of local music and sights. Dress for the occasion in an updated prairie dress paired with black accessories to temper the cheekiness while channeling heritage dressing the modern way.

Dinner at Sala (or your favorite fine dining haunt)

Bowral wrap top + Aroza frilled midi skirt

Fine dining restos are always fully booked during Valentine's so make sure you dress the part soon as your partner confirms, partly to thank him for the gesture but mostly to look as beautiful as possible in case something big happens. Heard proposals are rampant this time of the year. #girlscout forever.

Have a super sweet Valentine's seekers!

Love lots,

Anne
